This is the best day trip you can opt for while in Marrakech. You will drive in rarely frequented off the beaten tracks in the high Atlas Mountains and Valleys to enjoy the scenery and meet the real Berbers.
4×4 day trip to the Atlas Mountains itinerary:
Explore the deep Berber country of the High Atlas Mountains while admiring the landscapes of the desert, snow capped mountains, valleys, lakes, open plains, and adobe mud brick villages.
Your day trip to the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech will take you first south east of to town, where you will enjoy a 30 minutes off road drive in Agafay desert to the Haouz planes across apricot and olive farms to the village of LallaTakerkoust where you will make your first stop to admire the lake.
From here, you will drive from one Berber village to another crossing the Kik Plateau on a rough terrain. Stop at Fadma’s house, a very nice Berber lady who exceptionally opened her house for our guests to visit and enjoy a cup of mint tea with home made bread and locally produced olive oil.
Should your day trip to the Atlas Mountains coincide with a Souk day ( Tuesday – Saturday ), you will stop at a weekly Berber market in either Tahennaout or Asni for a quick visit before you continue to Imlil village, located in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, and considered the base of Toubkal National Park.
Upon arrival, enjoy an hour hike to Armed village accompanied with your Berber guide before you enjoy a delicious Berber Tagine cooked just for you by a local family in their house.
In the afternoon, drive back to Marrakech on the main road, and you day trip to the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech will end with a drop off at your hotel / riad or a location of your choice.
