Day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech
What you will do:
Explore the maze-like streets of Essaouira, a charming and vibrant seaside town only two hours and a half drive from Marrakech. Visit the fishermen port famous for its blue boats and sea gals flying by, enjoy the sea breeze walking on top of the Skala du port and the 6 km long sandy beach.
Day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech itinerary:
Depart Marrakech at 08h00 am crossing the Haouz Planes towards the village of SidiLmokhtar located West of Marrakech. Upon arrival, stop for a coffee break before you continue your drive past the Argan trees forest, unique to this area. There might be a photo shoot opportunity where goats are climbing the trees looking for the Argan nuts. If you wish, you can stop at a local ladies cooperative processing Argan oil before you continue to Val d’Argan, a unique vineyard in the region, established by a French wine connoisseur. If you are a wine lover, there will be an opportunity to taste their wine before you carry on to Essaouira.
Upon arrival in Essaouira, meet your local guide for an introduction tour of the vibrant bohemian city: Visit the Medina, the Mellah (the old Jewish quarter), the Kasbah (the old military bastion) and the fishermen port.
Enjoy a seafood lunch at one of the local cafés.
Rest of the afternoon will be spent at leisure to admire the beauty of the city, its beaches and maybe enjoy a cup of coffee or mint tea at PalceMoulayElhassan while listening to Gnawa music played from mostly every corner of the city before you meet your driver for a smooth drive back to Marrakech.
